Landowners and tenants alike are preparing for the implementation of the National Cabinet’s Mandatory Code of Conduct: SME Commercial Leasing Principles during COVID-19 in the ACT.

Until the Code of Conduct has been passed into legislation in the ACT, much like the Pirate’s Code, “It’s more a set of guidelines than actual rules.” However, even prior to its introduction into law, the Code of Conduct can provide the parties to a lease with a framework for discussing their leasing relationship during this crisis.
